for nine Radio Drum-controlled
Trimpin toy pianos

(co-composed by Andrew Schloss)

Duration: 10'
2003

Instrumentation: Nine Trimpin-outfitted toy pianos, controlled by Mathews/Boie Radio Drum

"Maravillas" is based on the cadenzas from the "The Seven Wonders of the Ancient World," adapted to Trimpin's wonderful mechanical toy piano nonet. In the piece, the toy pianos are controlled by the Radio-Drum in real time. The piece was premiered on April 26, 2003 by Andrew Schloss at the Jack Straw Productions gallery as part of "Music in the Making, Music in the Mind", a conference celebrating 40 years of ethnomusicology at the University of Washington.
