Summit Meeting
spatial negotiations for violin/singer,
cello and trap set
Duration: 10'
1981
Instrumentation: violin at the extreme rear of the audience, cello and trap set on stage
"Summit Meeting," is a partially improvised work in which two spatially-separated stringed instruments desperately try to reach out to one another, despite seemingly-insurmountable differences. The cello, accompanied by trap set, plays a kind of jazz material, while the violinist sings and plays glissandi in unison, in contrary motion and in harmony.
